Cattle

Head Bros. Land & Cattle's operation consists of a commercial herd of 500 cows utilized as custom recips for our clients across the Midwest. We implemented our custom recip program on our family farm over a decade ago and have been blessed to work with some of the best cattle operations in the country. All of our cows calve in our 60' x 360' calving barn that has individual creep pens, separate calving and working areas and loafing pens monitored by cameras. This allows us to closely monitor each cow as well as make sure all the calves are up and going before they leave the barn and go to one of our pastures. When clients come to pick up their embryo calves they have had all of their vaccinations and been on creep feed all summer.

We've also been slowly and steadily increasing our involvement in the Hereford breed the past couple years and have begun to market high quality Hereford heifers to juniors across the country. We are excited about the direction of this breed and we feel that we have acquired some elite cows that will produce offspring that will work in the show ring and also in the pasture as well. In addition to our custom recip business and Hereford cows, we also raise a group of club calf cows that we target to raise steer calves to be sold through one of many fall online sales. Along with the cow herd, we also operate a feeder calf backgrounding operation where we grow and develop calves to be marketed to feedlots across the country and also sold as freezer beef locally.
